Cheshire Hoarding

In August 2015 Cliche Marketing came to us at Spiral Colour with a request to produce hoarding which would be placed around an area of Northwich which was undergoing redevelopment. Cliche had been impressed with previous examples of hoarding that we had produced, even working past one example on their way to work!

Cheshire West & Chester’s riverside development along the River Weaver in Northwich town centre is underway to create 320,000 square feet of retail, leisure and parking space. The project includes a cinema complex that extends towards the river. This, combined with new restaurants, cafes and retail outlets is predicted to create up to 1500 jobs. Public spaces will also be created, giving the local community even more recreational facilities.

site hoarding

With this project hotly anticipated by residents and shoppers of Northwich town centre, Cheshire West needed to be able to illustrate what Baron’s Quay future will look like. In order to supply this Cliche looked to supply artists impressions and 90 linear metres of printed hoarding was required to line the public walkways and adjacent management suite.

After a full site survey Spiral worked with designers at Cliche Marketing by creating a scale diagram. This illustrates the 3 metre drop from one end of the existing OCB hoarding to the other. This illustration was supplied as an InDesign file enabling designers to place visuals onto the scale drawing. This gave the designers the ability to adjust the design where necessary, for example where changes were needed to accommodate the slope running down. Our design team at Spiral were at hand throughout the process to advise on certain technical specifications and to suggest solutions to new problems that Cliche’s designers were encountering.

When the design was satisfactorily placed to our scale diagram the design was then saved as individual panels. This meant that the panels could then be printed directly on to Dibond 8×4 panels. Dibond was used due to its durable nature, meaning it would not need to be replaced during the lifetime of the project. The boards were printed on our Jetrix Flatbed in full high resolution CMYK colour. This ensured that the boards were high quality and really brought the vision for the project to life.

Thanks to this preparatory work the installation was made a much easier task. The flow of the graphics was made possible by adding batons to the existing hoarding. Headers and kickers boards were also added to cover any face fittings and to hide any staggered panels. The installation was carried out by our professional fitting team who were able to complete the fitting during working hours without any disruption to the Northwich public.

The job was an impressive addition to our growing portfolio of hoarding installations. We’d like to thank Cliche Marketing for choosing to work with us and we look forward to working with them again in the future!
